What are our specialties?

True healing begins when we’re seen, recognized, and understood.

What can we help with?

LGBTQUIA+ Experiences

For those questioning, exploring, or living your truth, we’re here to help process your experiences of identity confusion, coming out, discrimination, relational conflicts, or mental health concerns like anxiety and depression as an LGBT+ adult living in Tennessee. We create a safe, supportive space to explore your identity, heal from past experiences, and confidently embrace your authentic self without fear of judgment.

Ambiguous or Prolonged Grief

Grief isn’t always tied to the death of a loved one. It can also stem from losing dreams, identities, relationships, careers, faith, or a sense of hope. If you’re navigating the weight of this type of grief, we’re here to help you process the pain and uncertainty, learn how to live again, and reclaim your sense of self and purpose, even when the path ahead feels unclear. Together, we can explore ways to cope, heal, and rediscover meaning in your life after loss.

Health Conditions

Physical and Mental Conditions affect our everyday lives. These may look like the experiences of chronic illness or pain, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactive disorder, substance abuse, and mood or personality disorders.

Systematic Religious Trauma

Experiences within religious systems or faith communities can impact self-trust, identity, and relationships, often leading to estrangement from loved ones, loss of faith, or difficulty trusting yourself and others. When these experiences are prolonged or deeply ingrained, healing can feel overwhelming. We provide a supportive space to process these challenges, reclaim your sense of agency, and reconnect with spirituality in a way that feels authentic and empowering.

Complex Relational Wounds

When trust and safety are broken in close relationships—through neglect, betrayal, abandonment, or abuse—it can lead to fear, insecurity, and difficulty in forming healthy connections. Repeated or prolonged relational trauma can create patterns of avoidance or self-doubt, making healing feel out of reach. We help you process past wounds, rebuild trust, and create more secure, fulfilling relationships.

Chronic Burnout

For high-achieving perfectionists, creatives, and professionals who feel overwhelmed by the relentless pace of life—those constantly overcommitted, driven by pressure and stuck in a cycle of never-ending goals. If you've spent your life following someone else’s plan, only to feel empty or unable to find peace, you're not alone and we’re here to help.

How do we help?

At Hayzlett Counseling Co., our therapists are trauma-informed and extensively trained in approaches that prioritize safety, empowerment, and healing. We understand how past experiences shape present challenges, and we create a supportive space where clients can process their stories at their own pace. Using evidence-based modalities like EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, and other trauma-focused therapies, we help clients regain a sense of control, resilience, and self-compassion on their healing journey.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps individuals process and heal from trauma by using guided eye movements to reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories.

Existential

Existential Therapy helps individuals find meaning and navigate life’s uncertainties by exploring freedom, responsibility, and personal values.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting therapy is a trauma-focused approach that helps individuals process deep emotional pain by identifying eye positions linked to unprocessed memories and emotions.

Humanistic

Humanistic Therapy emphasizes self-growth, personal potential, and the innate capacity for healing through a supportive and client-centered approach.

IFS

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative approach that helps individuals understand and heal their inner world by exploring different "parts" of themselves with curiosity and compassion.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Therapy explores unconscious patterns, past experiences, and relationships to gain insight into present emotions and behaviors.

What are our session options?

Psychotherapy

[ 50 min ]

Therapy is a gradual, intentional process of rediscovery. Much like fungi break down nutrients to create space for new life, we’re here to help cultivate growth and stability in your life. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that helps you explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, offering insight and support as you heal and move toward growth.

Trauma Processing

We use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brain Spotting, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) in our sessions. They are intentionally longer to accommodate the depth of the content and allow time for nervous system regulation.

Intensives

[ 12 sessions / 3 or 5 days ]

We offer in-depth sessions for those ready to dive into trauma processing. Therapy intensives are focused, immersive experiences designed to accelerate healing, providing a deeper exploration and faster progress in addressing complex emotions.
